The student center is to address “the lack of dedicated space for student associations, events, and leisure activities”. While student activities disappear with the transience of the student body, the problem becomes not the lack of space on campus; but the failure of the EPFL to accommodate the students’ needs and desires. We argue the aim should be to collect and remember traces of student life. Encroaching in the Rolex’s underused parking spaces, we propose a shelving system rooted in participation and appropriation.
