Recent events on the EPFL campus, marked by the violent repression of public demonstrations followed by a stiffening of internal regulations concerning spatial use, have highlighted the urgent need for an “unconditional space”. The acquisition of this space lies in an negotiated agreement with EPFL institution. Located at the heart of the campus in the now defunct ArtLab, this new place could become a space where student life and rules of conduct concerning daily life are re-examined. Through its materialization, the project aims to translate students’ needs into an appropriable and collectivly managed environment with the potential to influence broader culture on campus.
