In the present project, the city of Geneva was examined for its „walkability“. For this purpose, the city was viewed and graphically evaluated based on the four categories „Usefulness“, „Safety“, „Comfortability“ and „Interesting“.
There are some deficits in the city of Geneva. The safety of pedestrians and cyclists is not guaranteed and accidents often occur because there are very few cycle paths and these are often not sufficiently secured. The city center also has a high level of emissions. In addition, the proportion of public squares and green spaces within the city center is too small. In addition, the mix of uses in the city as a whole can be expanded.
Appropriate interventions make it possible to increase the safety of road users, reduce the distances to the individual supply functions, provide the necessary open and green spaces, and improve the environmental values in the city center.
