The Aparthotel is situated in the Béthusy district, a 5 minute walk from the CHUV.
It accommodates workers, students and patients’ families alike, for stays ranging from a few days to several months.
As the site is on a slope, the building takes on a stepped form whilst retaining a block-like layout. The ground floor houses the reception, a café, a restaurant and a study area. The upper floors accommodate the apartment hotel.
All the rooms are identical, facing north-west, with views of the Sauvabelin forest and sheltered from city noise.
Each contains the essentials: a 2x2 m bed, a bathroom and some storage space.
Large doors can be opened to transform the transition area into a semi-private space between the room and the corridor. This area shares the same materials as the corridor, whilst the room, which is slightly raised, has its own finish.
Folding tables are integrated into the doors, allowing the space to be adjusted between private and communal use depending on the angle at which they are opened, creating a continuous space between the bedroom and the kitchens. A curtain helps to preserve the bedroom’s privacy when the doors are open.
On the south-east side, the corridor houses communal kitchens and modular lounges.
