A major part of takeaway trash ends up in the incinerable waste bin because of its consumption in public space and the lack of sufficient and infrastructure to sort them properly. Most of the takeaway trash can't even be sorted in the typical bins system because of its composite materiality. A new system needs to be developed for these 'unprocessable' products.
We propose a set of principles to hack this flow of takeaway trash and process it to create lasting dishes and architectural elements, to be (re)used and borrowed, in order to set up a circular system and provide ‘undisposable’ objects made out of trash for the city center. Using the potential provided by systematic and very simple construction system, we proprose a multiscalar set of intervention to offer new spatial possibilities for Lausanne’s Place de la Gare, showing how the process of waste can articulate new urban narratives.
