The new building transforms an existing abandoned cinema of Milano into a Milanese film archive.
While filling the whole volume with the archive and its ancillary functions, the project extroverts the cinema program by placing a huge two-sided screen on the roof. On one hand the roof platform serves as an open air cinema for “private” projections. On the other, the screen addresses a huge portion of public (road) space for occasional film festivals.
The new archive exaserbates the iconic presence of the former cinema, becoming a signal for the whole city.
