To address the housing needs in Bridport, our proposal focuses on affordable multigenerational shared flats with smaller private units.

Given that one third of Bridport‘s population is aged 60 or above, our design emphasises qualitative private spaces in parallel to generous, community-focused, shared spaces. These are also a response to the town‘s vision for more present younger generations in Bridport. We believe it is essential that there be a balance between private domestic spaces, and shared col- lective spaces in order to create efficient and agreeable community-focused dwellings.

By incorporating multi-generational common areas, we aim to promote an active lifestyle for elderly inhabitants. Also contributing to this, productive and multifunctional spaces on the ground floor, accessible to all, aim to remain cohesive with the area around the site and the needs of the town and its inhabitants.

Our proposal consists in a 5-storey building that should be a community-driven passive house, in parallel with a small extension in front that puts emphasis on activity. Costs should be re- duced to create affordable housing, through systematisation and the use of local work and materials. The project could thus adapt to the town‘s needs, while providing a model with new perspectives for responsible building.
