The PAV transformation in Geneva reconfigures the industrial area of the PAV, provoking protests over its scale and reliance on demolition. While the master plan pursues intense densification with large-scale building volumes, the preservation of the historic Maison Baron becomes a striking paradox. Intervening on the landscape, the design preserves soil layers, shapes earth dunes to counter reduced sunlight, and facilitates natural irrigation, a new topography facilitates natural irrigation. Rainwater, harvested from surrounding rooftops, fuels an irrigation system. Parasitizing the construction process, the scaffolding remains as barrier as well as access. Maison Baron is remains as a secluded „artists’ residency,“ anchoring cultural continuity within a semi-autonomous, adaptive garden.
