While the peak of Rochers de Naye is spectacular, the train ride going there from Montreux is just as big of an experiece. Moving through the dramatic scenery the old train tracks utilize a series of different tunnel constructions to safely and beautifully move through the landscape.
Our intention with “The Journey Continues” is to extend this way of experiencing Rochers de Naye through the end station and into the site. The design proposal is based on an analysis of the existing tunnel structures and is embedded into the landscape in various ways throughout its span. By integrating the mountain ridge hiking trail into the circulation of the area, the building aims to link the two different types of travel: creating a smooth transition from one to the other. The hiking trail leads to activities in the area like the via ferrata, marmot paradise,
alpine garden and the new shelters designed with the same strategy for construction. By focusing on the connection between the site program the project establishes coherence at Rochers ded Naye.
