This project explores the potential of the Rochers-de-Naye to become a true center of
a dense network of paths that could be covered both within one day of hiking and
longer hikes. The proposal of two new building blocks aims towards the separation of two distinct
functions of the area: the infrastructure and a more domestic space. Accordingly, the infrastructure block marks the final train station from the line Montreux-les Rochers de Naye; and on the other hand the domestic space offers an information point with the possibility to rent hiking gear, a restaurant, a multi-usage room (for conferences, school class trip, wedding...), and a few dormitory rooms. All of the four volumes are implemented in terraces for a better
integration to the slopes of the site. The two blocks delimit a central space that concentrates the activities: where the hiking paths cross, visitors enjoy the view, eat on the terrace, play in the playground, or wait for their train.
The structure is composed by a solid base made out of a stone retaining wall and a
concrete slab with a lightweight timber structure on top. Ther the imaginary of the
railroad world induces a timber cladding with large planks as for the neighbouring sheds,
the color is dark - slightly burnt wood to remebers the treated sleepers and the solar panels aim towards more autonomy for the site and the train.
