Jumping Scale

The concept of Jumping Scale proposes itself as a possible solution to the densification problem in Gangnam. By using perception tools and strategies to blur the reading of the buildings’ facades, the project keeps the human scale aspect while increasing the urban densification. Here, the main tools used to generate ambiguity are the notions of scale and composition.

The project consists of constructions and extensions. The main street is densified with high buildings and the densification of the east side is lighter. The mask is used on an urban scale to embrace the bloc. Only when we reach the inside, the buildings are revealed. The concept of Jumping Scale is generated throughout the morphology of the bloc and at the building scale.
